New online tool: RibRaft® HotEdge® R-value Calculator 

The Firth RibRaft® HotEdge® R-value Calculator is a free online tool that uses the prescribed methodology in H1 (5th Edition) to calculate a compliant thermal insulation solution for slab foundations.   MBIE has deferred the implementation of this update for construction products relevant to Firth categories from November 2022 to May 2023 but architects and designers will need to be using the new methodology for consent applications very soon.   This methodology, used in the HotEdge Calculator, is applicable to residential building and non-residential building up to 300m2.   The R-value Calculator has a couple of unique features to make architects lives just that little bit easier:

Features

  • Solution scroll – users can select a good/better/best solution based on their design/build needs.
  • The user can select a portion of the perimeter with no insulation (e.g. garage) for a more accurate R-value.
  • The user can enter their own project reference that copies to the pdf output, with the selected thermal solution, and can be used directly as part of a consent application documentation. 
  • The new HotEdge Extra (for non-veneer cladding systems) and HotEdge Base products are now options when calculating a solution.
