“Firth’s RibRaft® TC3 floor slab is enabling large amounts of land previously considered unusable in Christchurch to be built on, offering home owners, builders and insurers considerable savings and peace of mind,” says Jon Hambling, National Technical Manager for Firth.                                          

“However we are also receiving an increasing number of orders for RibRaft® and RibRaft® EQ - and enquiries for RibRaft®TC3 - for builds outside of Christchurch. The fact that our standard RibRaft® system now has a CodeMark - the system has been approved as meeting the requirements of the Building Code - means we are seeing an increase in orders from places like Nelson, Marlborough, Tauranga and Northland.” 

“We have noticed a shift in the way people view the foundations of their homes as they now see more value in a quality foundation system,” says Dominic Sutton, Chief Operating Officer (Southern) for Firth. 

“RibRaft®TC1, TC2 and TC3 can be used for the vast majority of land,” explains Jon. “The cost to build on land that is subject to settlement can potentially be prohibitive, therefore any system that can help developers take advantage of these areas will always be welcome.”
